Welcome Message
The development of supercomputer hardware has been always rapid since its emergence and have strongly inspired computational research field of nuclear energy science and engineering. Very recently, the CPU power has reached a stage of peta-flops, and the latest high-performance computing (HPC) frontier is now directed from peta to exa-level. This conference provides an opportunity reviewing HPC new trend and status.
SNA+MC2010 is a joint conference of successful series of "supercomputing in nuclear application (SNA)" and "Monte Carlo (MC)". This memorial conference covers all aspects of technical developments in the novel approaches as well as the conventional ones over two areas of SNA and MC. These wide technical information exchanges will help all participants to find out a clue to construct a new application and improve piled ones.
As for methodological developments in nuclear applications, technical advancements like muti-scale and multi-physics simulations have been a trend issue since nuclear reactor, fuels and materials behaviors are basically multi-physics and multi-scale problems. On the other hand, Monte Carlo simulation of particle transport has been successfully improved and utilized in wide areas.
All sessions including plenary, oral and poster ones, workshop, tutorial, and exhibition will take place in Hitotsubashi Hall located in National Center of Sciences Building, close to the heart of Tokyo, Emperor Palace, around where there are many splendid places for sightseeing, walking, and jogging, and very convenient for access to famous cultural, amusement, and shopping places.
Submitted manuscripts are going to be considered for publication in special issues of Nuclear Science and Technology as the proceedings of this conference after peer review.
This conference will particularly encourage students who actively participate and present own excellent results. The selected students will be awarded by the organizing committee.
